Many of the previous techniques of room illumination are still based on Edison's incandescent lamp. With the halogen lamps, the fluorescent lamps and the sodium vapor lamps, more light-intensive products were added, which, however, did not necessarily provide a feel-good atmosphere with their color temperatures. For this room lighting technology, there are light-emitting diodes(LEDs) and LED spots made of power LEDs that far surpass the illuminance and lighting efficiency, or luminous efficacy, of classic products. In addition to the two criteria mentioned above, lighting is about color rendering and color temperature, color rendering index as a feel-good criterion, uniform distribution of brightness, flicker-free, and adaptation to daylight. A special lighting aspect is human well-being, to which Human Centric Lighting( HCL) is dedicated. All of the above factors can be managed and controlled by lighting management.
Due to specified energy-saving measures, LED lighting for rooms, halls, streets, etc. is becoming increasingly important. Especially since the size of the light source, the service life and the power balance in terms of heat generation offer significant advantages over conventional technologies.
The power LEDs used for this purpose can consist of multilayer light-emitting diodes or of two or three individual LEDs that can produce different color tones in combination. If the characteristics of the light emission are taken into account, many colors and lighting effects can be generated. This technology is equally suitable for lighting as well as for the illumination of advertising displays.
