device control (DC)

Device Control(DC) are device control characters, they are also called Device Control Character( DCC).

Device control characters are defined in the 7-bit code and control additional and auxiliary devices in data processing systems and transmission systems, in particular they are used to switch devices on and off. They are designated DC1 (Device Control 1) to DC4 and occupy positions 11(H) to 14 (H) or 018 to 020 in the ASCII character set.

The Device Control Characters are used in character-oriented protocols such as the Bisynchronous Procedure( BSC) or the Medium Speed Version( MSV) used in Transdata.
