UUCP network
A UUCP network is structured in such a way that two subscriber systems communicate with each other indirectly by means of a UUCP server. For this purpose, the central UUCP server dials up all the subscriber systems in turn and transfers the files intended for the respective subscribers.
The transfer from the UUCP server to the subscriber system is referred to as " download", and in the opposite direction as " upload". Since a UUCP network is completely uncontrolled and decentralized, it is not subject to any planning or control.
The UUCP network evolved into Usenet in 1979 with the addition of the news service.
