MAC level bridge
Most bridges, especially in the Ethernet area, do not realize LLC functionality, but a connection that makes do with the MAC layer. These bridges are called MAC level bridges.
MAC-level bridges perform the bridging function between two network segments with identical LLC protocols, although the physical layer and, if necessary, the MAC layer may be different. Intelligent MAC-level bridges use the globally standardized Ethernet addresses to build an address book for network management. They automatically add the addresses of the network segments to their address book, thus ensuring load decoupling between the segments. The address book can be managed statically or dynamically by the network administrator.
