IEEE 802.15.3

IEEE 802.15.3 is a working group standardizing High Data Rate WPAN( HDR WPAN). Unlike 802.15.1, 802.15.3 supports scalable data rates of 11, 22, 33, 44, and 55 Mbps and very high quality of service( QoS).

802.15.3 standardized the Wireless Medium Access Control( MAC) and Physical Layer( PHY) Specifications for High Data Rate Wireless PersonalArea Networks (HDR WPAN). 802.15.3 operates in the ISM band at 2.4 GHz and can span distances of up to 50 meters. The standard supports various modulation methods and scalable data rates.

In addition, 802.15.3a is a standard for ultra-wideband( UWB) with data rates of 480 Mbit/s that supports multimedia applications. 802.15.3c with data rates of up to 3 Gbit/s has emerged from this working group.
