smart battery system (power supply) (SBS)

The Smart BatterySystem (SBS) is a standard proposed in 1995 for the control and management of smart chargers, the Smart Battery Chargers ( SBC) and smart batteries, the smart Batteries( SB).

In the SBS standard, which is used in many mobile devices and portable computers, several charger and battery components interlock. Thus, the specifications of the Smart Battery Data (SBD), the System Management Bus( SMBus) and the Smart Battery Charger (SBC). With the combination of these components, battery management can be operated and communication with power supply units can take place via the System Management Bus (SMBus). This includes, among other things, the acquisition and control of charging voltages and operating currents.
