single edge contact cartridge (CPU-package) (SECC)
Single Edge Contact Cartridge (SECC) is a special design for microprocessors, the so-called slot processors. The pozessors are located on a small plug-in card, which is housed in a plastic casing and which is inserted into a slot.
There are two slot variants for CPU sockets that are not compatible with each other: slot 1 from Intel and slot A from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), which works with the EV6 protocol from the Alpha processor. Slot 1 is for the PentiumII and III, slot A for the Athlon.
The Pentium II was housed in an SECC package in the early years. The SECC-2 was developed for higher clock frequencies of over 350 MHz. The Pentium III had such a package where only the side facing away from the processor core was protected by hard plastic.
