Screen design is the graphic implementation of user interfaces on displays. Screen design is about the layout of a user interface, not about its functions.
Screen design is used in all areas of application in which screens are used. In production technology as well as in consumer electronics, mobile devices, control systems, personalcomputers and in automotive technology, in vending machine technology, kiosk systems, computer games and last but not least in the design of websites.
Screen design is a symbiosis of creative, typographic, graphic and photographic elements, which are aesthetically assembled, support the variety of functions and interaction possibilities of the user on the screen. Therefore, screen design is geared to the needs of the user and thus to the target group. This means that kids prefer a different screen design than adults or disabled people, that a smartphone browser has a different screen design than a desktop browser.
