phase-shaped binary transmission (ON) (PSBT)

Phase Shaped Binary Transmission (PSBT) is a modulation technique for the transmission of digital signals over optical fibers.

PSBZ modulation is most commonly used in wavelength division multiplexing(WDM) and optical time division multiplexing( OTDM) because it is less susceptible to chromatic dispersion and requires less bandwidth than NRZ coding. PSBT coding is based on the duobinary format and is characterized by a pi phase jump between a 0-1 or 1-0 transition.

With PSBT technology, distances of over 200 km can be bridged over optical fibers without dispersion compensation.
