open database API (ODAPI)

The Open DatabaseAPI (ODAPI) is a vendor-independent programming interface ( API) for communication between databases and application programs. For example, application programs for word processing can communicate with database programs via the ODAPI interface. ODAPI was developed by Borland back in the 1990s.
