multi vendor integration protocol (CTI) (MVIP)

The Multi Vendor Integration Protocol (MVIP) is a transport protocol for distributed computer-assisted telephone systems.

The MVIP protocol operates in time division multiplex(TDM) on the MVIP bus and is mainly used in systems for computer telephony integration( CTI) and interactive voice response( IVR). Depending on the version, up to 256 B-channels are supported for simultaneous voice communication.

The MVIP bus is a 40- wire bus on which communication is handled in time-division multiplex. It supports 16 data streams with 32 channels each, resulting in 265 B-channels. There is also an extended version, the High Capacity MVIP (H-MVIP) with 3,072 channels.
