micro generator

Microgenerators can be used wherever the supply from rechargeable batteries can become critical. Whenever maximum reliability and fail-safety ofbattery-powered micro devices with low energy requirements are required, microgenerators can take over the recharging of discharged batteries as autonomous energy sources.

Since rechargeable batteries always need to be recharged, this can lead to operational interruptions that are unacceptable in some applications. The use of these micro generators lends itself to sensors and RFID tags, PDAs and GPS receivers, tire pressure sensors and wireless body area networks(WBAN).

Microgenerators use well-known energy generation techniques such as energy harvesting. These can be solar cells, fuel cells or micro fuel cells, thermocouples or motion generators, but also micro generators that obtain their energy from high frequency or from heat. Which of these micro power plants is used depends on the power demand and how it is needed over time. Some devices require small amounts of energy continuously, while others operate in intermittent mode and need higher power for short periods.
