memory address (MA)

The memory address (MA) is a specific word to identify a memory location, a contiguous memory area or a functional unit.

The memory address is normally specified numerically in hexadecimal form. If the memory location identified by this memory address is accessed directly, it is the direct, real, or absolute address. The absolute address

can be a natural number and does not have to be calculated. In contrast, the relative address identifies the memory location in relation to a reference address. In addition, there is the symbolic address; this is the absolute address that is modified by a program and represented in alphanumeric form. A translator can identify this alphanumeric address.
