link station (LS)

The term Link Station(LS) is used in different contexts, both for a link station and for a connection station.

In the SNA architecture, one speaks of the Primary Link Station( PLS) and the Secondary Link Station( SLS). The PLS station is the link station that initiates and controls communication with the secondary link stations. In communications technology, a link station is a connecting station to which other stations can be connected. In satellite communications, link stations stand for ground stations from which uplinks are switched to the satellite and downlinks are received from them.
