international railway industry standard (IRIS)

IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) is a list of rules to ensure high quality in the supply chain of the railway industry.

IRIS was drawn up by several railway system manufacturers in cooperation with UNIFE (Association of the European Rail Industry). In contrast to ISO 9000 or 9001, the IRIS regulations go into much more detail about the procedures and processes used and, above all, about long-term availability.

Among other things, IRIS assesses the maturity of the management system with a scoring tool and makes demands on project management, knowledge management and configuration management.
