integration platform as a service (iPaaS)
Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) is a cloud-based service for integrating processes, applications and data from public clouds, private clouds and on-premise environments.
The iPaaS service supports the integration of data and services regardless of their functional model. With an integration platform as a service, enterprises can perform both application and data integration with an agile, scalable and reusable solution. With this integration approach, no enterprise-owned hardware is required for installation and management. Data and application integration takes place on the iPaaS platform. The various cloud models can be combined to form a hybrid cloud. The various services and web services are provided via programming interfaces.
iPaaS forms the integration of applications and the provision of cross-application functions. Integration can be supported by mediation functions such as the Object Request Broker( ORB) or via integration architectures such as the Enterprise Service Bus( ESB).
