Cables that are only approved for indoor installation due to their properties are called indoor cables; if they are fiber optic cables, they are FO indoor cables.

#0 These cables can be used equally in building cabling, in riser areas and in floor cabling. Important for indoor cables is the fire behavior and fire propagation. In addition, for indoor cables, attention must be paid to smoke development and freedom from halogens. The cable sheath is therefore made of a halogen-free, flame-retardant material, Flame Retardant Non Corrosive( FRNC).

Outdoor cables are specified according to IEC 60794-2-20 and are suitable for the temperature range between -20 °C and +60 °C.
