Hyper-convergence integrates the various IT infrastructures of computers, storage units and networks and their resources into a unified infrastructure, a Hyper-Converged Infrastructure( HCI).
Hyper-convergence is about the further development of convergence into a convergent overall system in which the various technologies are closely interlinked, rather than the convergence of, for example, IT technology and telecommunications, the integration of transmission technologies or that of services and media content.
Hyperconvergent systems manage the various technologies in a single management system. The individual technologies and the software components are integrated with each other. This involves services in the context of computing or storage. This can involve the virtualization of storage, networks and devices, as well as replication, deduplication or the optimization of WAN connections.
