Depending on the resolution, the grayscale can be a fixed number of steps or continuously between black and white. The gray scale is divided into ten levels according to the Munsell system with black as "0" and white as "10". Gray levels are generally expressed as percentages, with black corresponding to a brightness value of 0% and white to one of 100%. The gray scale is also used for gamma correction.
