distributed operating system

A prerequisite for distributed operating systems is a computer network. Unlike a network operating system, which resides on each computer connected to the network, a distributed operating system supports each computer connected to the network and controls their operations.

For the user, the system is opaque. He does not know that the services he uses are distributed over several computers, nor does he know which service is running on which computer. Of course, an operating system kernel must be present in each node to ensure dialog capability with the user and network access.
