direct to home (satellite comm.) (DTH)

Direct to Home (DTH) stands for direct-to-home satellite reception for television and radio in a private household.

With Direct to Home (DTH), the user can receive satellite programs directly from a GEO satellite using his own dish antenna, without the need for a community antenna or broadband cable network in between. The term is used in the USA, from which the term Direct Broadcast Satellite( DBS) was later derived.
