demand based switching (power management) (DBS)

Demand Based Switching(DBS) is a technique developed by Intel for power management( PM) of microprocessors.

The DBS technique is based on a similar concept to Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling( DVFS). Demand Based Switching reduces a processor's supply voltage and clock speed based on workload, which reduces the processor's power dissipation and energy consumption.

Processors equipped with DBS technology operate with reduced supply voltage and low clock rate until the workload increases and the computing power has to be increased.
