cross certification

Cross certification is a method ofauthentication in which one certification authority( CA) certifies another that is not in close proximity in the hierarchy.

Cross Certification between different CAs allows instances of different security infrastructures( PKI) to trust each other.

After cross certification between two CAs, the instances of the PKIs can interact with the corresponding subjects according to the certified policies.
