cloud Ethernet forum

The Cloud Ethernet Forum is a global alliance of network equipment manufacturers, system integrators, service providers and cloud service providers. Founded in 2013, the Cloud Ethernet Forum aims to improve the delivery of Ethernet services in the cloud Ethernet environment, specifically addressing scaling requirements.

The goals of the Cloud Forum go beyond those of the Metro Ethernet Forum( MEF). Among other things, this refers to Carrier Ethernet, which was standardized by the Metro Ethernet Forum for the provision of functional services, but is being further developed by the Cloud Ethernet Forum. The Cloud Forum aims to ensure reliable and efficient communication between millions of servers and storage units over local and global networks. In this context, the focus is on performance, which must be guaranteed everywhere, the scaling of cloud services and the reduction of operating costs.

The Cloud Ethernet Forum's member companies include founding companies Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya, Equinix, HP, Juniper Networks, PCCW Global, Spirent Communications, Tata Communications, and Verizon.
