cloud Ethernet

Cloud Ethernet is a concept developed by the Cloud Ethernet Forum for the provision of cloud services. This concept is about technical solutions for the scaling of Virtual Local Area Networks, VLANs, the performance of Layer 2 solutions and the reliability of global domains.

The goal of cloud Ethernet is to reliably transmit the rapidly growing cloud network traffic caused by M2M communications, A2A communications, by replications, backups and software updates through the global network constellations.

For these reasons, many wide area network providers are expanding their Ethernet potential. Since Ethernet is the dominant network technology in local area networks and has many characteristics for connecting to clouds or data centers. It can increase the security infrastructure over the wide area, and simplify network management and scaling.
