bridge control protocol (BCP)

The Bridge Control Protocol(BCP) is a protocol from the group of PPP protocols, Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP).

The BCP protocol is responsible for configuring the protocol parameters of the bridges at both ends of the PPP link. The BCP protocol uses the same exchange mechanisms as the Link Control Protocol( LCP). The BCP data packets cannot be exchanged until the Point to Point Protocol (PPP) has established the link at the network layer. BCP data packets sent before then are discarded.

The Bridge Control Protocol was specified by the Internet Engineering Task Force( IETF) and is described in RFC 3518.
