In the context of Green IT, there are a few approaches to energy savings in data centers.

One method, Automatic Control of Power Consumption (ACPC), focuses on power-dependent control of energy consumption in servers, while others, such as Enterprise Power and Thermal Management( EPTM), focus on controlling energy consumption depending on the computing power and cooling of the servers.

The ACPC method is about optimizing maximum energy consumption from a power consumption perspective. The optimization is carried out with the help of a model that distributes the provided and required power of the servers in such a way that energy is saved. In the process, available computing power is released for other servers as soon as a server no longer needs the computing power. For further power reduction, the ACPC technology works together with the power management for the power supply units and processors.
