application specific standard product (IC) (ASSP)

Application Specific Standard Products (ASSP) are standard chip components with elementary programming capabilities. Application Specific Standard Products (ASSP) are manufactured in large quantities and are therefore more cost-effective than ASICs.

ASICs, Application Specific Integrated Circuits( ASIC), are developed for special applications and for special customers who have ordered them and are therefore produced in smaller quantities than ASSPs.

Such ASSPs are used in audio equipment such as hearing aids or other systems, where they perform the tasks of signal processors, including processing chip algorithms. They are designed for the application and cannot be subsequently modified or adapted for other algorithms. Compared to standard products, however, they have the advantage that they are very small and can be optimally designed for the processing of the algorithms.
