Kermit

Kermit is an asynchronous data transfer protocolfor file transfer and terminal emulation that allows communication between different computers.

Kermit also supports the coupling ofpersonal computers( PC) or workstations with mainframes. Kermit originally worked with a block length of 96 bytes, but there are now also implementations with block lengths between 16 bytes and 9 kB, depending on the available line quality. In the initial phase the window size was very limited with 1, in the later versions it was then increased to 31.

Kermit belongs to the public domain software and is thus accessible to everyone free of charge.
