Java card runtime environment (chipcard) (JCRE)

The Java Card Runtime Environment (JCRE) determines the behavior of the runtime environment when implemented in Java Card technology.

The specifications for the Java Card Runtime Environment include the implementation of the Java Card Virtual Machine (JCVM), the various programming interfaces, and the services that support the runtime, such as applet selection. The Java Card Virtual Machine (JCVM) supports its command set and other subsets of Java, as well as the file format for installing applets and libraries into Java Card components.

The Programming Interfaces for the Java Card Platform completes the JCRE specifications and describes the programming interface for the applications. It includes the class definitions to support Java Card Virtual Machine (JCVM) and Java Card Runtime Environment (JCRE).
