Internet streaming media alliance (ISMA)

In December 2000, the ISMA(InternetStreamingMedia Alliance) was formed with the aim of developing open standards for the transmission of multimedia data over IP networks. Above all, a uniform format for streaming media content is to be developed. In addition, for digital rights management ( DRM), ISMA has developed ISMACryp for encryption and DRM transmission for MPEG-4 streaming and playback.

Founding members of ISMA include Apple, Cisco, Kasenna, Sun Microsystems and Philips.
