IEEE 802.3 100GBase-SR10

100GBase-SR10 is a 100GbE interface for 100 Gigabit Ethernet. It is an optical fiber interface for ribbon fiber with ten parallel multimode fibers of OM class 3 in each of the two directions.

Nomenclature of the 100 Gigabit interface

Nomenclature of the 100 Gigabit interface

The interface designation indicates that it is a short distance (S, Short) interface. The "R" indicates the interface type with 64B66B coding and the number 10 states that the transmission is via ribbon fiber with ten parallel multimode fibers in both directions. The 64B66B coding results in a baud rate of 10.3125 GBaud. The wavelength range at 850 nm is used as the optical window. The bridgeable distance depends on the OM class and is 100 m for OM3 and 125 m for OM4.
