IEC 61851

IEC 61851 is an International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard for communication between charging stations and electric vehicles for battery charging.

The IEC 61851 standard consists of various sub-standards in which the EMC requirements and the requirements for DC charging stations are dealt with. Specifically, these are:

IEC 61851-1: General requirements.

IEC 61851-21-1: EMC requirements for on- board chargers of electric vehicles for the conductive connection to the AC/DC supply.

IEC 61851-21-2: Requirements for electric vehicles for conductive connection to an AC/DC supply - EMC requirements for on-board electric vehicle charging systems.

IEC 61851-23: DC charging station for electric vehicles.

IEC 61851-24: Digital communication between a DC- EV charging station and an electric vehicle to control DC charging.
