wireless instant messaging (WIM)

Wireless Instant Messaging (WIM) is real-time communication with one or more participants using smartphones or cell phones over mobile networks.

In WIM messaging, participants can set their own availability and preferred mode of communication and identify which other user is currently participating in the current instant messaging. Any user can start a chat with other participants.

For a user to participate in wireless instant messaging, the mobile device must contain the IM clientsoftware and operate with the Wireless Application Protocol( WAP).
