voice over LTE via generic access (VoLGA)

VoLGA, which stands for "Voice over LTEviaGAN," is one of several techniques for voice transmission over Long Term Evolution ( LTE). The others are Voice over LTE( VoLTE) and Circuit Switched Fallback( CSFB).

All three voice-over techniques are transitional techniques toward VoIP.

VoLGA is based on the Generic Access Network ( GAN) defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project ( 3GPP) for circuit-based services. Services from WLANs can also be included via the generic access network. However, VoLGA does not use WiFi services, but Long Term Evolution (LTE).
