The Universal Unique Identifier (UUID) is a globally unique identification number for the unique identification of objects or companies on the Internet.

The UUID comprises 128 bits and guarantees the uniqueness of the identification of objects. It consists of the network address of the host that generated it, a time stamp indicating the exact time of a transaction, and a random number generated by the component. The uniqueness of the Universal Unique Identifier (UUID) is ensured by the network address with which an individual computer is identified and by the unmistakable timestamp of a specific host.
