trn-newsreader

The trn newsreader is an extension of the rn newsreader, which means: all commands of rn are also valid for trn.

The main difference between the newsreaders rn and trn is that with trn you can read news articles on the Internet not only article-oriented (i.e. each article separately), but also discussion-oriented. This means that in addition to the content of the article in question, you also receive information about which other articles belong to the discussion in question. Since each discussion also has a name (topic, subject), trn can also be used to search for discussions on specific topics. The result is the name of the discussion and the number of articles that exist on that topic. In news nomenclature, a discussion is called a" thread" (literallythread, guide).
