Traffic sign recognition (TSR) systems are used in automotive technology.
Traffic sign recognition systems are driver assistance systems that serve traffic safety and inform the driver about recognized traffic signs. These can be projected directly onto the windshield via the head-up display, or they can be used for driver assistance and influence the driving characteristics, for example, in the event of speeding by reducing the driving speed.
Traffic sign recognition works with a camera that records the environment in front of the car and evaluates it for traffic signs. This enables the driver to be alerted to overlooked traffic signs, or a recognized traffic sign for a speed limit to be immediately converted into a lower driving speed.
