The connection cord is the connecting line between the junction box and the terminal device. In a telephone network, the connecting cord connects the telephone with the telephonenetwork.

The structure of the connecting cord is specified in DIN 47467. Connection cords are equipped with a TAE plug or RJ45 plug on the network side and with a telephone plug connector on the device side. Connection cords are 6-pole and extremely flexible, they have fixed confection lengths and a characteristic impedance of 75 ohms.
