synchronous residual timestamp (B-ISDN) (SRTS)

Synchronous Residual Timestamp (SRTS) is a technique for clock generation in ATM networks in which the difference signals between the source clock signal and the network timing reference are transmitted and allow the data sink to regenerate the clock signal from the source signal. When an SRTS link is established, the signaling end station encodes an RTS signal from the network clock signal and transmits it to the destination station. This uses the RTS to synchronize with the data source.
