satellite interactive terminal (SIT)

A Satellite Interactive Terminal (SIT) is a transmitting station and a receiving station for transmitting and receiving satellite radio.

Through such a user terminal, the user can use interactive satellite services, such as the Broadband Interactive System( BBI). This includes all services with simultaneous receive operation and transmit operation. Satellite interactive terminals do not have to be installed in a stationary location; they can also be set up as mobile devices. Transmission takes place in the Ku band for the downlink from the satellite to the SIT station and in the Ka band for the uplink.

In contrast to stationary VSAT stations, Very Small Aperture Terminal, SIT stations use a high quality parabolic antenna, which offers much better values in terms of its selection capabilities from neighboring transponders and better intermodulation characteristics.
