regenerative braking

Regenerative braking is a recuperation method of recovering energy when braking an electric vehicle.

Some electric vehicles work with energy recovery, recuperation. In this process, the braking energy generated when braking in traffic or on terrain gradients is no longer lost; instead, it is converted into electrical energy by motors that act as generators during braking and fed to the batteries. In this context, one also speaks of regenerative braking. Energy recovery improves the energy efficiency of the vehicle.

The regenerative braking process is not limited to electric vehicles, but can also be used in cranes, elevators and hybrid vehicles.
