read clock pulse (magnetic card) (RCP)
In magnetic cards, the data is stored with the clock signal, which is the Read Clock Pulse (RCP), on each of the three magnetic tracks. The clock signal and the data signal are combined on the magnetic stripe and must be separated from the modulated and stored data signal, which is read by the Read Data Pulse( RDP), when read by the magnetic card reader. This separation is done by a F2F demodulator, Frequency to Double Frequency. The data is read out on the falling edges of the RCP clock signal. The Card Loading Signal( CLS) is active during the entire readout process.
