optical payload tributary unit (OPTU)

In optical transport networks ( OTN), various high-speed services such as Escon or Gigabit Ethernet ( GbE) can be provided to the end customer. The Optical Payload Virtual Container ( OPVC) ensures a uniform format of the different services. The Optical Payload Tributary Unit (OPTU) mirrors the output of the OPVCs in a time slot and ensures uniform clocking.
