microcomputer compensated crystal oscillator (MCXO)

Among the temperature compensated crystal oscillators, there are those that use analog temperature compensation.

These include the Analog Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators( ATCXO), the digitally operating Digital Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator( DTCXO) and those using a microcomputer for temperature compensation, which are the Microcomputer Compensated Crystal Oscillators (MCXO). They all differ in their accuracy and frequency stability.

MCXOs use algorithms that compensate for all thermal effects and errors. This overcomes all thermal-related limitations of TXCOs and OCXOs. The temperature-dependent stability values for MCXOs are `2*10^-8`, which is one power of ten higher than those of ATCXOs and DTCXOs.
