Microswitches are miniaturized switches. They can be functionally designed as normally closed, normally open or changeover switches.
Microswitches differ from other switches in that their contact travel is shorter. The overtravel for the NC and NO contacts is less than 3 mm. The best-known version of a microswitch is the one with snap-action system.
Microswitches are one to two centimeters small, ultra-small versions are less than one centimeter. Micro or subminiature switches are used in electronics on printed circuit boards or in computer components such as mice. InRF circuits, they are increasingly being replaced by RF MEMS switches.
