List servers are computer systems that manage and operate mailing lists using the listserv program.

A listserv is an automatic mail system that only authorized people who have subscribed to the service and who are registered in the discussion groups can participate in. The list server is emailed by the discussion participants, it adds the email addresses of the subscribers and distributes the email to all the participants registered in the mailing lists.
