intelligent power management (IPM)

Intelligent Power Management(IPM) is used to reduce and optimize electrical energy consumption in computer systems and data centers.

IPM systems monitor the temperature of power supplies, they provide proper voltage regulation, current limiting and load sharing.

Modern IPM systems can be monitored and managed by the administrator, allowing unused system components to be shut down to reduce energy consumption. Likewise, any problems that occur can be detected and corrected directly. For example, in the event of a power failure, the uninterruptible power supply( UPS) can automatically take over. Temperature monitoring can reduce energy costs for cooling.
