input power flux density (sat com.) (IPFD)

Input Power Flux Density (IPFD) is the input field strength at the transponder delivered over the uplink from the ground station transmitter. The IPFD is an important parameter that affects the radiated power of the transponder, the Equivalent Isotropically Radiated Power( EIRP).

The received field strength of transponders is expressed in dBW/m2 and is, for example, -86 dBW/m2 for Eutelsat.
