extended power profile (wireless charging) (EPP)
The Extended PowerProfile(EPP) is a charging profile for the Qi standard that can transmit up to 31.5 W for wireless charging of laptops and notebooks.
In contrast, the lower charging profile, the Baseline Power Profile( BPP), only supports powers of up to 5 W. Another difference between the two charging profiles lies in the communication, which is bidirectional in the EPP profile.
In both directions, the system works with a toggle switch. Between receiving coil and transmitting coil with amplitude shift keying and in the opposite direction with frequency shift keying. The two communication partners can exchange their charging modalities via the bidirectional connection.
